Michael was a member of the Dartmouth Players. During the fall of his junior year a Frost Play contest was held. Michael won first place for his one-act play Pardon My Defense "a delightful fantasy" in which an Owl, a Lion and a Girl "kept the strangest sort of company." Concurrently, Michael rehearsed for and performed the part of Kilroy in Tennessee Williams' Camino Real.
